I’m sorry to tell you that Clive Scrivens passed away yesterday at the age of just 72.

Clive was a founder member of Dereham Rugby Club, and although he only turned out for a few seasons in the 1970s before moving away to take up a new job, he played a vital role in getting the club off the ground and in making Dereham a fun place to play rugby.
Clive had been suffering from dementia for a number of years and he died in the North Walsham nursing home that had been looking after him. I’m so pleased we were able to get him to the ground to watch the president’s game in 2017. His memory was a bit foggy but he thoroughly enjoyed himself and didn’t stop smiling. Thanks to everyone who helped to make that day so special for him.

For those of you who don’t know Clive, he’s the one in the blue jacket and bobble hat.

Hope to see you all on the touchline again soon.

Best wishes,
Steve Scott

On behalf of the current members and players of Dereham Rugby Club we would like to extend our condolences to Clive’s family and thank Steve Scott for this. Clive will be missed by all his friends at the club.
